Mahama can’t change Amissah-Arthur in 2016 – Ephson
Pollster Ben Ephson has stated that it will be politically suicidal for President John Mahama to change vice president Amissah-Arthur as his running mate for the 2016 elections.
The comment comes on the back of rumors that the ruling party is contemplating changing the vice president ahead of the 2016 elections.
But speaking to Kasapa FM’s Maame Broni Wednesday, the managing editor of the Dispatch newspaper said it will be imprudent to change a winning team.
In his view, people who criticize the vice president do so unjustifiably.
He said people must understand that politics and managing an economy is not done in the media as people expect Mr. Amissah-Arthur to be doing.
Meanwhile, President Mahama has said he is not afraid to be contested for the presidential ticket of the ruling party.
“The NDC is a very democratic party so we allow for competition at all levels of the party and therefore the party encourages that. This is why we are called the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I believe in non-interference in the Parliamentary primaries because at that level such personal involvement could result in the choosing of candidates who will lose the general elections. Therefore it is always proper to allow for the people to elect their own candidates,” Mr Mahama told Radio Ghana in an interview Wednesday.
